Carla is a therapeutically endorsed optometrist who completed her training at the Queensland University of Technology and did an additional internship at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. She is a member of Optometry Australia, The Australian College of Optometry and The Cornea and Contact Lens Society of Australia.
While in Canada, she spent some quality time with a nice Canadian optometrist named Sam, whom she had met earlier in Australia. He wouldn’t fit in her suitcase, so Carla convinced him to move to the land down under.
Carla loves all aspects of optometry and will always make sure your eyes are seeing their best! She has a keen interest in paediatric optometry and has completed an Advanced Certificate in Children's Vision.
When she’s not being an optometrist, you can find Carla seeking out new restaurants, curating her eyewear, absorbed in a new podcast or book, and roller skating her heart out.
Originally from New South Wales, Annie started her career in optics in 2016 in the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. However, she calls Perth home as she's resided here for almost two decades.
Prior to optics, Annie was a passionate hairdresser for 20 years. She's got a great eye for style and can even give some hair tips as well!
In her spare time, Annie enjoys yoga, paddle boarding, all things health & fitness, and of course loves spending time with her dachshund, Alfie.
Anais is originally from France, and graduated as an optical dispenser in 2008.
Anais takes great pride in the experience she has gained while working in the optical industry. She believes that good design is timeless and will always ensure you will find a frame that is worth cherishing forever!
In her spare time, Anais enjoys spending time with her daughter, running on the beach, and cooking.
Our only Perth local at Monocle, Gemma has been working in optics since 2004, and used to work as an optical mechanic fitting lenses. She loves helping people change their looks by finding new awesome frames!
Gemma is a mum to 3 girls who are passionate about netball, and they love to support the West Coast Fever netball team. She also taught herself how to crochet, loves time at the beach, podcasts, live music and comedy.
If she wasn’t in optics, Gemma would love to be a baker or a librarian!.
Watson spent his early days herding reindeer in his native Sweden. However, knowing that life had more to offer, he went on to pursue a degree in barketing. Sam and Carla could see his pet-tential and immediately invited him to come join the Monocle family.
Watson’s style choices are second to none, and you’ll notice he’s always sporting a luscious fur coat. His fashion sense is an asset in the shop as he is always willing to lend a helping paw when it comes to choosing glasses. Of course, he can easily be persuaded into cuddles and belly rubs – his true weakness.
In his free time, you can find Watson soaking up some sun at the Leighton dog beach, chewing on bones (or anything he can get a hold of), and generally just being a very good boy.
